Gloucester Township Couple Accused of Years-Long Abuse and Imprisonment of Teen Daughter

In a harrowing case that has shocked the Gloucester Township community, Brenda Spencer, 38, and her boyfriend, Branndon Mosley, 41, have been charged with multiple counts of abuse, imprisonment, and sexual assault against Spencer's teenage daughter. The alleged abuse spanned several years, during which the victim was reportedly confined to a dog crate, chained in a locked bathroom, and subjected to physical and sexual abuse.

Details of the Alleged Abuse

According to prosecutors, the abuse began in 2018 when Spencer withdrew her daughter from school under the pretense of homeschooling. The victim, now 18, told authorities that she was forced to live in a dog crate for approximately a year and later confined to a padlocked bathroom where she was chained up. She was allegedly beaten with a belt and sexually assaulted by Mosley on multiple occasions.

The couple's home was described as "squalid," housing numerous animals, including dogs, chinchillas, birds, snakes, and bearded dragons. The victim was reportedly deprived of education and, at times, food. She managed to escape the residence on May 8, 2025, with the help of a neighbor.

Legal Proceedings and Charges

Spencer and Mosley have been charged with first-degree kidnapping, second-degree aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and other related offenses. Mosley faces additional charges of aggravated sexual assault and sexual assault. Both defendants are being held in the Camden County Correctional Facility pending trial.
