In a deeply troubling development, Danielle Ingraham, a home daycare operator in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, is now facing additional charges of child abuse, raising the total number of alleged victims to six. Initially charged earlier in March with abusing two children, the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office has now filed charges related to four more infants and toddlers under her care.
According to authorities, the new charges include four counts of endangering the welfare of a child and four counts of cruelty to a child. The victims, all between five and thirteen months old, reportedly suffered injuries such as bruising and head trauma—injuries that in some cases required medical evaluation. The investigation began when a parent noticed a bruised eye on their child after a day at Ingraham’s home daycare.
This case has sparked outrage and concern among parents and community members, emphasizing the critical need for strict oversight of childcare providers and facilities. Parents trust daycare professionals with their children’s safety, and breaches of that trust can result in lifelong consequences for young victims and their families.
At Survivors of Abuse NJ, Joseph L. Messa, Esq. is committed to supporting families impacted by such abuse. With decades of experience handling complex child abuse and institutional negligence cases, Mr. Messa provides compassionate and aggressive legal representation to ensure survivors receive the justice they deserve.
Families of children who have experienced abuse in daycare settings in NJ have the right to pursue civil legal action against the perpetrator and, in certain cases, the facility itself. A civil lawsuit can recover damages for:
Medical expenses
Therapy and counseling costs
Emotional distress
Pain and suffering
Additionally, criminal proceedings led by the state can result in prosecution and sentencing of the abuser, but civil action gives families the ability to seek direct restitution and public accountability.
New Jersey law allows for civil claims to be brought even in cases where criminal charges are pending or were not pursued. Joseph L. Messa, Esq. works closely with families to assess the facts of each case, gather supporting evidence, and build a claim that reflects the full extent of the harm.
The legal process can be overwhelming, especially for parents caring for traumatized children. That’s why Survivors of Abuse NJ offers free, confidential consultations to help families understand their options and take the first step toward justice.
“Our firm is here to stand beside families during their most difficult moments,” said Joseph L. Messa, Esq. “Abuse in any form is unacceptable, especially when it involves children. We are committed to holding abusers and negligent caretakers accountable.”
If you suspect your child has been harmed at a daycare or childcare facility, don’t wait. Prompt action is essential for protecting your child, preserving evidence, and securing justice.
